In the Foreground

Removing the old tarp
a beautiful oil painting long hidden away.
I’ve kept it safe for you.
The colors’ contrast is glaring
yet the differences are in perfect balance
like ours…
The paint is chipping away in places
reminders of what I’ve forgotten.
Your smile is the focal point
which all roads lead me back to.
The background is a ghastly sfumato cityscape,
traces of the world that sought to take it away.
The concept is a blur
yet the perspective is crystal clear.
The colors will never fade
and our love will forever be hidden
in the foreground.
