My God

My god is different…
My god is what I’m holding in my arms.
It’s the sweet scent of your hair
as you lie here still asleep.
My god is complicated like your hands
yet as simple as their touch.
My god is a reason in itself.
My god asks nothing,
yet fulfills all needs.
My god cries no false promises.
My god is why the murdered man’s children
suffer the most.
My god is this feeling
and this feeling is love.
